Ark of Infinity
This well know and very fast MkII Twiggy, "Ark
of Infinity", is for sale.
I have sailed on this boat and cruising along at 18 knots is what
made me decide to build a trimaran.
I don't have
full details just yet but as soon as they become available I will
post them.
In the meantime, if you want any further information:
Call Bob on 0438-601 048.

Aquair 100
Tow Water Generator
There is littledoubt that this is the most effective means
of generating electricity when at sea.
Generates approx. 1 amp per knot (12v) at average cruising speeds.
Rope transmits power of spinning turbine to on-board generator.
Optional gimbal mounting of generator gives fool-proof operation
& long-life.
Simple installation from stern rail - no permanent hardware. Easily
rigged.
Thousands in use worldwide. Hundreds of circumnavigations made.
Highly suitable for use on long distance blue water cruising yachts.
Wind turbine conversion available for use at anchor.

Marty's note:
Having done a lot of offshore cruising, I know that an adequate
power supply is an ongoing problem for all long distance cruisers.
When at sea, we have all kinds of things running 24-7, big power
suckers like auto pilot and the all important fridge, navigation
lights at night that you usually forget to turn off, then small
loads like GPS, radio etc. There are basically three things you
can do about this. 1. Run the engine for a couple of hours each
day. 2. Have a dedicated generator. 3. Increase your ability to
create power. Now, as you will use more power at sea than when
on anchor, it makes sense that it is a good idea to be able to
create more power only when needed - at sea. This is where the
tow generator really comes into its own. It is generally regarded
that a standard cruising yacht will average about 41/2 knots -
multihulls aside - given this speed, you will be making just over
21/2 amps per hour - 24-7 - that's 60 amps each day on top of
what your solar and/or wind generator are making. Bear in mind
that when travelling, you will normally try to get a down wind
passage, which means your wind turbine will be working less efficiently
than it would if you were stationary or bashing your brains out
to windward.
In port, you will probably be using around 60-70 amps per day,
the fridge will use the lions share of that. If you have an 80
watt panels and a good wind generator, you will probably get this
in any given day, (depending on your area of operation) however,
at sea, you have the added loads of extra equipment, the Aquair
100 will pick up these added loads.

We all know about the speeds that multihulls are
capable of but we don't usually go racing around the place at
20 kots when cruising, but, if you are partial to a bit of speed,
you can fit the course pitch prop that won't skip out of the water
when you are boogying along at 15 kots. If you have the standard
pitch on board as well, you can just change over if conditions
change.

Something I have come across that
might interest boat builders, especially the multi hullers. Polycore
Australia have a range of honeycomb core products that should be ideal
for lightweight bulkeads, furniture, insulation, the list goes on,
all at the right price. Check their web site by clicking below. Polycore
are more than just core material. If you are fed up with paying top
$ for epoxy resins, Polycore are also distributors for JM resins,
glues and fillers.
